How to Measure for Artificial Grass

First, measure the outer edges of the space you would like artificial grass for.

Ignore any odd shapes at this stage, you just need the two measurements, maximum length and maximum width.

If you have some graph paper to draw your outline this may help with the next steps.

Things to remember

Easigrass comes in either 4m or 2m width rolls.

Add a minimum of 10cm to each edge and join to allow for overlap for a perfect finish.

When planning your 4m and 2m sections please ensure that the grass can be laid in the same direction because, like a carpet, the grass has a pile which must be going in the same direction across the space otherwise the joins will be visible.

It is also best if the grass can be laid in lengths moving away from the house, not across the garden so that the pile is at its best viewing angle.

You will need:

  • Tape Measure
  • Pencil
  • Graph Paper
  • Calculator

Gardens with a basic shape and at least one measurement (the width or length) under 4m

You simply need to order 4m x the longer measurement.

Example – if your garden measures 3.8m x 5.7m (or 5.7m x 3.8m) you need to order 4m x 6m of grass.

= 24 sq m

You will need this amount of grass, shockpad and weed membrane.

Gardens with both the width and length measurements over 4m

If this applied you will need to order 2 pieces of grass.

Example 1 – f your garden measures 5.2m x 6.2m (or 6.2m x 5.2m) you need to order:

2 pieces of 4m x 5.5m (to allow for overlaps) of grass = 44 sq m

Example 2 – If your garden measures less than 6m on the longest side, eg 5.8 x 5.2m then you could utilise the two widths of grass available to order:

1 piece of 4m x 5.5m + 1 piece of 2m x 5.5m = 33 sq m

Curved Shapes

Measure as if an imaginary box was around the edges then refer to the examples above
