When is a swimming pool not a swimming pool? When its a putting green of course!
This incredible job got us all scratching our heads, partly with sheer amazement at the idea, partly wondering how we were going to pull off such an ingenious design. But we have a very strong team and we knew that once our heads were put together we would create the most amazing garden feature any of us have ever worked on!
Firstly there is a swimming pool, raised from the ground which we surrounded by lush Easigrass, and usually that would be the end of the project! However in this garden we then moved to a putting green, but not in a new garden location; this putting green was on a huge moving platform… which we had to install on rails… which was able to cover the pool by moving smoothly into position!
With all the wood frame work complete and the rails installed we began work on the grass installation, starting with the pool surround, while stunning, this stage was relatively straightforward (compared to the rest!).
The raised platform was perfectly sized for 3 holes of our special golf surface Easi-Wentworth, surrounded by a more traditional yarn however with the added complication of needing to cover the sides of the platform using carefully boxed corners for absolute neatness.
With the golf platform finished, we were able to move it across the pool using the very installed rails, covering the pool entirely. The putting green could then be used in this position… or used when adjacent to the pool after being moved away making not only a very clever piece of design but one of the most versatile gardens we have created.
Thankfully not all our installations are as big or as challenging as this one, but when they do come along, the whole team relishes the opportunity to really make Easigrass shine.
